The IBSA Executive Board has announced that Turkiye has been appointed as the host country for the 2024 IBSA Partially Sighted Futsal European Championship. The decision was made based on the recommendation of the IBSA Football Sport Committee. The city of Antalya has been chosen as the venue for this prestigious event, which will take place from November 1st to 11th.
This announcement comes as a welcome development for the sport, as the last edition of the championship was held in 2018. As promised during the 1st IBSA Football Forum in Birmingham, the IBSA is committed to organizing an official event annually. With the confirmation of the 2024 championship, the IBSA has fulfilled its promise to provide a platform for three lines of football: Paralympic football, women’s blind football, and the Partially Sighted Futsal regional championship.
Elias Mastoras, the IBSA Football chairperson, expressed his excitement about the upcoming event, stating, “We are back on track for the regional Partially Sighted Futsal championship. We have now secured an official 2024 event for our three lines, reaffirming our commitment to promoting and developing these disciplines within the IBSA.”
The 2024 IBSA Partially Sighted Futsal European Championship promises to be a showcase of talent and skill, bringing together the best European national teams. With Turkiye as the host country and Antalya as the vibrant city setting the stage, football enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting and memorable tournament.
As the countdown to November 2024 begins, preparations are already underway to ensure a successful and inclusive championship that celebrates the achievements of partially sighted athletes in the sport of futsal.
