Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Five to the Monroe County Housing Authority

Today, Governor Ron DeSantis has announced the appointment of five individuals to the Monroe County Housing Authority. These individuals bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their new roles, and their appointments will further strengthen the authority’s ability to serve the community.

First, we have Aaron Castillo, who is the Director of Key West Mortuary and Cremation Center. With 20 years of experience on the Monroe County Housing Authority and as the Chair of the Bahama Village Redevelopment Authority, Castillo has demonstrated his commitment to improving housing opportunities in the county. He holds an associate degree from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service.

Next, we have William Gonzalez, a Senior Account Manager of Bright View Landscaping. Gonzalez is actively involved in the community, serving as the President of the Marathon Lions Club and a former executive board member of the Crane Point Board. His previous experience as the Manager of Gonzalez Brothers Landscaping, Inc. will bring valuable insights to the authority.

Linda Hinchcliffe, a retired professional who previously served as the Director of Administration for the Monroe County Housing Authority, also joins the team. Hinchcliffe’s community involvement includes serving as the Chair of Membership for the Key West Lions Club and being a former member of the Monroe County Personnel Association. She attended the College of the Florida Keys.

Patrick Labrada, the Owner and Mortgage Broker for Southernmost Financial Corporation, is another valuable addition to the authority. Labrada’s community engagement includes serving on the City of Key West Utility Board, being a member of the Rotary Club of Key West, and previously being elected as a Monroe County School Board member. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Bethany College.

Lastly, Ailton Lopez, a Bartender and Mixologist for the Islamorada Florida Keys Resort Collection, brings a unique perspective to the authority. Serving as the resident member for 12 years, Lopez has been recognized for his outstanding service in the hospitality industry with a “Recognition of Service Excellence” Award from the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association in 2023.

These appointments highlight Governor DeSantis’ commitment to selecting individuals who are dedicated to improving housing opportunities and serving the community. The Monroe County Housing Authority will benefit greatly from the expertise and passion that Castillo, Gonzalez, Hinchcliffe, Labrada, and Lopez bring to their new roles.
