A Historic Visit: BJP Chief Murli Manohar Joshi’s Darshan at Ram Lalla’s Temple

On January 14, 1992, a significant event took place in the town of Ayodhya. Ram Lalla, the deity of Lord Rama, was still housed inside the Babri Masjid. It had been more than five years since the locks of the structure were opened by a Faizabad court’s order, granting devotees access to have darshan of the revered deity.

On this auspicious day, as the temple town celebrated Ram Lalla’s ‘prakatotsava’ (appearance), a prominent devotee arrived to pay his respects – none other than BJP chief Murli Manohar Joshi, who was leading a high-profile visit.

The visit of Murli Manohar Joshi held immense significance, given the political and religious context surrounding the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute. The BJP, as a political party, had been actively advocating for the construction of a Ram temple at the site, considering it to be the birthplace of Lord Rama.

Joshi’s visit to have darshan of Ram Lalla symbolized the party’s commitment to the cause and its support for the sentiments of millions of devotees who believed in the sanctity of the site. It further fueled the aspirations of those seeking the construction of a grand temple dedicated to Lord Rama.

The event marked a pivotal moment in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, which eventually led to the demolition of the Babri Masjid and the subsequent construction of the Ram Mandir. It was a moment that resonated with the hopes and dreams of countless devotees, who had longed for the day when their beloved deity would have a permanent abode.

Joshi’s visit to Ayodhya on that historic day became a significant chapter in the ongoing saga of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. It served as a reminder of the deep-rooted faith and devotion that Lord Rama continues to inspire in the hearts of millions across the country.

As the years have passed, the construction of the Ram Mandir stands as a testament to the collective efforts and aspirations of countless devotees. The temple now stands as a symbol of unity, faith, and the enduring legacy of Lord Rama.
